Following a record-breaking opening weekend at Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 in England, World Rugby today unveiled the inspiration behind the tournament’s ground breaking broadcast title sequence, which has been showcased to audiences around the world.
As the biggest celebration of women’s rugby ever organised, tournament organisers aimed to create opening titles that celebrate the power of art and sport, uniting creative and athletic excellence on the global stage.
World Rugby collaborated with AE Live Ignite and HBS, who led the creative development and production of the title sequence, commissioning 16 female artists – each representing a participating nation – to create bespoke artwork that celebrate both the spirit of the game and the unique identity of their home team, with one unifying requirement: every design had to feature an oval shape at its centre.

Each of the 16 unique artworks was then animated into a fluid, inspiring title sequence that takes viewers on a journey through the nations, culminating in the host nation’s piece.
“Art and sport have never really collided like this before. It was an honour to be chosen to represent our country in this way,” said Xöe Hall, the New Zealand artist behind the reigning champions’ piece.
Canadian artist Alina Urusov added: “I loved the idea of being part of an international women’s illustration team for such an amazing sport, where we can express women’s strength and excellence.”
Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 Managing Director Sarah Massey said: “The title sequence for Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 is a worldwide collaboration of ideas and designs. Each artwork is unique, yet they come seamlessly together to form a powerful, unified celebration of women’s rugby. We always said Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 would not only celebrate the players but showcase women who are inspiring and contributing to the tournament around the world.
With its unique blend of creativity and sport, Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 title sequence sets a new benchmark in global sports broadcast design, underlining the tournament’s ambition to champion inclusivity, innovation, and women’s voices on and off the field.
