Vanuatu Rugby Football Union Appoints First Full-Time Rugby Development Officer

The Vanuatu Rugby Football Union (VRFU) has reached a historic milestone with the appointment of its first-ever full-time employee dedicated to overseeing rugby development in Vanuatu. This achievement has been made possible through the invaluable support and funding partnership of World Rugby and Oceania Rugby.

Oceania Rugby, congratulates Adam Tumukon for being the successful candidate to oversee the development of the game in Vanuatu, and to assist with broader growth across the region. 

VRFU Treasurer, Mr Alipate La’au, expressed his gratitude for this breakthrough, noting the significance of moving beyond a volunteer-driven model:

“This is an exciting time for VRFU. Having someone working full-time to look after the development of the game in Vanuatu is a major step forward. I would like to acknowledge World Rugby and Oceania Rugby for their assistance in ensuring that we grow the game of rugby union here at home.”

Oceania Rugby General Manager, Mr Frank Puletua, highlighted the importance of tailored support for member unions:

“Our role is to serve our member unions where they need it most. Vanuatu has the potential to grow the game, so having a dedicated staff member to oversee rugby development programs is critically vital.”

World Rugby’s Participation Director, Mr Jason Lewis, reinforced the global vision behind this initiative:

“As part of World Rugby’s development plan, we are committed to supporting Member Unions and Regional Associations in creating strategies that promote the long-term sustainability of the game.”

Oceania Rugby congratulates Vanuatu Rugby Football Union on this milestone, and  this appointment marks a new chapter for rugby in Vanuatu, laying the foundation for sustainable growth and greater opportunities for players, coaches, and communities across the nation.
