The Oceania Rugby U20 Championship returns in 2021 with two test matches between the Junior Wallabies and New Zealand U20s.
The series will take at Bond University on Australia’s Gold Coast next month, with the first test played on July 6, followed by the second on July 10.
“We are very excited to have the Oceania U20 Championship return this year,” said Oceania Rugby’s President Richard Sapias.
“Australia and New Zealand are two of the world’s top teams, and with the limited opportunities to play over the past year and we look forward to seeing them return to the field.”
Bond University has hosted the event since its inception in 2015, with Australia and New Zealand featuring in every edition.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic cancelling the 2020 event, Australia will be the defending champions, having won the title in 2019, following four successive victories by New Zealand.
Traditionally held during April-May, prior to the World Rugby U20 Championship, the Oceania championship serves as a key high-performance competition designed to provide high level competition preparation for the world event.
All teams involved in the World Rugby U20 Championships are eligible to participate in the Oceania U20 Championship, with Samoa, Fiji, Japan and Tonga having competed over the past four years.
