Rugby Australia has today congratulated Josephine Sukkar AM on her appointment as Chair of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), which comprises Sport Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

A tremendous advocate and generous benefactor of Rugby within Australia, Ms Sukkar’s involvement from the game spans from clubland right through to the international game.

Rugby Australia Chairman, Hamish McLennan said: “On behalf of the entire Rugby community I would like to congratulate Josephine on her appointment and wish her all the best in the role.

“As a game, we have a close working relationship with both the AIS and Sport Australia, and I look forward to this being strengthened with Josephine at the helm.

“Josephine has contributed so much to Australian sport and our game at all levels - particularly with the advancement of Women's Rugby - and this has been recognised in her appointment, and I look forward to seeing her succeed on the National stage.

“We are coming into a crucial time for all sports within the country, and Josephine has our full support as we chart a course forward.

Ms Sukkar also currently serves as President of Women's Rugby, helping shape the on-going growth of the Women’s Rugby in Australia.
